School Information
Chicago and Suburban

The four main questions people ask me
and where to find the answers

Many times the number one concern of families moving into the Chicago area is how good are the schools. Generally the schools in the North and Northwest suburbs of Chicago are well above the national average. This section will give you a good basis of comparison both locally and nationally as well as introduce you to private schools available.

If you have questions about the schools feel free to call me  at 708-484- 2378 or email me follow the links below to find your answers.

Where are the schools and what towns do they cover?

Illinois school district boundaries don't always follow municapal boundaries so I have included a directory that has school district numbers by town. The Chicago area features a wide range of Catholic schools and Independent schools as well as an excellent Community College system.

How do the schools compare locally? and- How good are the schools?

How good schools are is really a subjective issue. Many people compare schools based on test scores and other demographics. The Illinois School Board of Education publishes School Profiles and Report Cards annually. For many this infomation will answer your questions.

How do the schools compare nationally?

Answering the question of how schools compare nationally is very difficult. The best sites I have found for comparing schools across the country is School Matters which approaches schools from a parents perspective and its companion site School Data Direct which offers at in depth look at schools across the country with a wealth of useful statistics. These sites are also a good source for comparing schools locally.
